I've been a patient at the practice for many years and I have always maintained it to be the best practice in Grantham. This year the service has gone downhill rapidly. I have spent almost 2hrs waiting in a queue for the telephone to be answered all of which, as I am told, we have to pay for. The telephone line is not freephone. I've waited in queues inside the surgery which have extended out of the door and into the carpark. You say you are trying to 'give a same day service' with AskMyGP but this only works if you have the internet. You can only get an appointment if are able to get your telephone call answered absolutely first thing at 8am. Phone at 8.10am and you have no chance and are told to try again tomorrow. I've spent over an hour at the reception desk trying to organise a simple prescription and the staff actually told me that "We don't know what we are doing with the new computer system." I've had several prescriptions issued and am told to collect from reception, only to have to wait 3/4 of an hour when I get there because the reception staff can't find them. This has happened four times.

I've decided to wean myself off my medication and see if I can manage without it as it is easier than the stress of having to ask for repeat prescriptions. God knows what will happen to me if I ever need medication I can't live without!

We are extemely sorry that you have received a less than satisfactory service from us.

We have recently changed to a new clinical system which has created a few teething problems and for this we apologise.

The telephone system was installed at the beginning of the year and this also came with some inital problems.

We have been looking into improving this and have now reconfigured how the phones are answered.

Hopefully this will improve the situation.
