"My mother's experience"

My mum had to have her gall bladder out about 4 years ago and had to wait nearly 2 years and the operation was cancelled three times and on the third time I was with my parents at Medway hospital. We arrived for the operation at 10.30 my mother had nothing to eat since the night before, we waited to be called in. Other patients were going in for operations my mother was left and it was about 3pm then two people came and said we have some good news and some bad news for you, we are ready to do your operation but we haven't got a bed for you. So she was told to go home we were very angry we complained to PALS I go the local MP and informed her doctors and as this was a Friday afternoon it was hard to do anything else my mother was devastated and very upset. I returned home and wrote a message on Facebook and within half an hour I had a message from the secretary to say my mother would be in the following Sunday for her operation which she was when they did the operation it was full of poison that she could have died.

Now my mother has been waiting since November for a new hip she is under a surgeon. I was with my mother at he appointment in November to go on the waiting list, she was told to go and see a breathing specialist before having the operation as she had asthma. She attended an appointment with this specialist and was told there was no reason why she couldn't have the operation, so she waited in mid January she telephoned her surgeon's secretary to be told she would have to call every two weeks to see if a date was available. My mother did this and is by this time struggling to get around I came down to move a bed downstairs as she was struggling to get upstairs.

She has attended a joint club and in April my mother looked up to my father as he entered the room as the sight in her eye went very distressed and concerned she had to attend Maidstone hospital and the staff in this hospital were amazing very caring and made my mother very relaxed. She had to have CT scans and loads of tests and an MRI scan and then she was told then after a few weeks that she has a brain tumour by now she is devastated we all are.

We telephoned her surgeon's secretary and told him what has happened and he managed to get a date in June she had to be at the hospital at 7am she attended pre-op appointment two weeks before and the another appointment on the Friday before, she went on the day of the op and was gowned up and ready to go to then be told she had eczema on her left leg, surgeon said I can't operate on a patient with eczema and she had anaemia and was given a piece of paper saying

2. Anaemia blood levels 130

She was told to take this to her doctor to get medication, the doctors were closed so a paramedic called the following day to be told she wasn't anaemic. I went down I spoke to the doctor and it took until a week later to get the blood results from the hospital to find out this was what they wanted her blood to be and it was 118 she was put on iron and had to go on morphine. I have telephoned this secretary loads of times most of the times they have been on holiday.

She was given anther date for in July, we went for the appointment after having hospital transport to go in and then to be turned away saying that it was cancelled due to her surgeon being off sick.  It doesn't matter that my mother has been sick for months.  My mothers mental health is affected and she is 77 years old and is now in a wheelchair and bedridden my father and I are considering going to the daily mail and local news. There is more to this situation but I am getting very upset writing this
