"Accompanying my friend to casualty July 2019"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a friend),

I took my friend to casualty after he complained of heart pain and tingling in his arm.

He would not admit it but was terrified as he had many of the risk factors for heart attack.

I was worried, the casualty was extremely busy and there were seriously ill patients all around him in the ward.

Everyone from the lady on A&E reception, to the the porter who took me through to him, was great, super efficient and friendly.

The doctor, Emily, although rushed off her feet was confident, put him at ease, took the time to listen and speak to him and really made him feel better. She also took the opportunity to advise him of his increased risk factors and provided him with the information which might allow him to change his behaviours and prevent heart attack.

I felt he was very well cared for during a time which was obviously high pressure for the ED on the hottest day of the year.

Dear Laura,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I'm glad that you experienced a super efficient and friendly service!

It's great to hear that Emily was able to put your friend at ease. This is a very important skill for a doctor to have. I will ensure that she receives this feedback so that she can use it for her portfolio.

I hope your friend is recovering well at home.

claire
