About: Grantham & District Hospital Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency Lincoln County Hospital / Oncology

(as the patient),

Oct 2018 seems a long time ago now, but I can remember it as if it was yesterday .

I had been having what I thought was trapped wind in my right side ,went to the GP three times  in one week who said try this if it doesn't work come back, so the third time he said I think you should go to the Hospital  .So with a letter me and my husband went over to Lincoln Hospital. We waited eight hours or more in A&E and just when I thought about going home we were called in, and I was sent to a assessment ward ,the GP on call that night came round and said she thought it was Kidney  stones .In that time I had bloods  taken and Ultrasound then a CT Scan.

On the fourth day the Consultant came round pulled the curtains and said I'm 95% sure it's Cancer, and just looked me straight in the eye (and I was waiting for AND) when they didn't say anything just kept looking at me ,so I look at him and said am I going to die ? They still never said anything ,apart from you sound shocked, I said you're not talking about me you've got it wrong .

Anyway with the  fantastic help of the wonderful Nurses at Ingham Ward who I cannot speak highly enough off (there my Angels ) I'm now on my fourteenth Chemo ,which I have every two weeks I got to ring the magic bell at twelve weeks which was very emotional. I also have a pump on for 46 Hours which is taken off at Grantham by a wonderful Nurse called Babs again she is amazing and I love her to bits always has a smiley face and greets you like a friend. All I  can is DONT EVER GIVE UP positive positive, positive , . My Cancer is not curable BUT it can be maintained . Thank you.
