Went to an appointment following a recent problem that occurred. The nursing staff and the nursing specialists who did the testing etc were excellent. However, the so-called consultant who saw me to explain the strategy was, I think, simply making it up as he went along! Honestly, I know rubbish when I hear it. It is disappointing to see and hear a supposed qualified and experienced doctor who thinks his patients are that gullible. Ended up with yet more medication and there's the clue: as a substitute for actually treating people by actually taking timely intervention when it is required (as is necessary in my case), cheap junk pills that do nothing to to improve a patients condition are doled out and consultants spin a ridiculous story to cover for the scandal. Honestly Southmead, why not just say to the patient: "I'm sorry but your urgent procedure that you require will have to wait for a few months because we can't afford it. In the meantime, here are some more pills that might stop you dying so quickly as you otherwise would, or will." Try a bit of brutal honesty and then people might have more respect, or finally get the picture and do something. Never assume your patient is stupid.
"A strange mixture of excellence and rubbish!"
