"Exercise rehabilitation"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital (Paisley)

(as the patient),

After some illnesses, I had lost ability/ confidence to attempt exercises. This was due to pain while attempting to continue with old sports/ hobbies. I had attempted, for example, golf swings at driving ranges. Pain and lack of ability to maintain swinging action meant that I gave up. I discussed my restrictions to my Consultant and she suggested Hydrotherapy sessions. I found it encouraging to meet fellow sufferers. I subsequently started golf driving sessions having found major improvement in my movements. A friend encouraged me to stand on a first tee and drive. After much trepidation (I considered pulling out in the morning) I experienced an elation that I never expected to have again. I played only a few holes more but I have found an old confidence. I feel free to increase my exercises.

I am thankful for the existence of the Hydrotherapy and advice and encouragement from the staff.

Dear Paulied

thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback, I will share this with the hydrotherapy team at RAH who will be delighted to hear that you are doing well and have managed to return to playing golf.

The staff strive to provide the kind of support and encouragement you describe and it is lovely to hear that you now have the confidence to continue with your exercises.

best wishes for the future and I hope you are continuing to enjoy your golf over the summer months

kind regards

Louise Watson
