I arrived at A&E 16.00 on a Friday afternoon duly booked in given a number and asked to take a seat in the injuries area. Now I had crushed my arm quite badly earlier that day but I was able to continue working (driving) to get back to Leicester from Kent. As usual A&E was very busy so patience was order of the day, I waited just under 2 hours to be seen (which I assume is fairly normal for any hospital, accounting for the size and volume of the city). Once the wheels were in motion I was look after in the most caring and professional manor by all of the staff. Firstly I was assessed and given pain relief, 10-15mins duration, sent immediately off to the X-ray department where I only waited 5 mins before I was seen and had 6 X-rays taken, then back to the Blue zone where I waited another 5 mins to be seen by a nurse. Its a shame you can't name people on this review because she was one of the nicest and professional persons I could have had to deal with my injury. Very thorough and attentive, seeking a second opinion on a specific area of the injury even getting the orthopaedic doctors involved. By 20.30pm my injury had been assessed, X-ray, examined, cleaned, dressed, and antibiotics given. My moral to this review for me is simple, be patient the staff in this department are under extreme pressure, work long hours, for little reward. I admire these professional people for who they are and what they do. Thank you all at LRI A&E
"Excellent staff and care"
