"Cat Bites"

About: Newark Hospital / Accident and emergency

On the 17th of this month I was badly bitten by a stray tom cat on my left hand. To say the resultant wound was deep would be an understatement. I immediately washed the wound under the tap and wrapped it in a bandage thinking that was that. Over the next day or so my hand started to swell so of I went to Urgent Care at Newark Hospital. The staff there were very professional and friendly. I only waited about 15 to 20 minutes before being assed by the nurse. After another wait I was seen by the Doctor who told me that he wanted an X.Ray to make sure the hand was not damaged internally. After that the nurse dressed the wound while the Doctor wrote my prescription. All in all a positive experience. Would recommend this service to anyone
