"CONNECT Eating disorders service. terrible service"

About: Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

If you know what is good for you, if it is recovery you are hoping for this service will no doubt shatter that hope. The staff lack empathy, they lack understanding and care. if you are looking for patient focused care, you will most definitely not find it with this service. I found the staff to be extremely judgemental and "cold" . My thoughts were not respected nor did my opinions regarding my own treatment respected, though they were recovery focused. the lack of care and the lack of patient focused care is appalling. no hope for recovery was given to me, instead they made me feel powerless. I found the team were unable to work collaboratively, rather they made the decision and I was expected to go along with them, not ask any question nor have any objections/different suggestions regarding my own care and treatment. I for one am shocked that this service is as bad as it is. basing treatment on BMI is also not Okay. it is not okay to offer/decline treatment based on a number. i would not recommend Connect to anyone. services like Connect choose to have short catchy names, to make themselves sound appealing,

I suspect. Connect do not connect, they disconnect. disengage you from the service, place barriers in the way of your recovery then are quick to say "you are not ready for recovery"

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to post the feedback regarding your experience. I have shared your concerns with Mr Mark Dodd, CONNECT Service Manager, who has provided me with the below response:

I am very sorry to hear that you have not had a good experience with the Connect Service. We always strive to provide the best possible care to service users and try to tailor this to their needs. We acknowledge that we don’t always get things right and we value feedback in any form to ensure we learn from the experiences of those who use our service. Whilst there are a small number of service users who have a poor experience, our experience is that most service users do have a positive experience and go onto recover from their illness. I am sorry that this has not been the case for you and for the distress this has caused you.,

Learning from peoples experiences is in invaluable for us to ensure that we provide the best possible service. If you feel comfortable in doing so and would like to meet to discuss you concerns in greater detail, our PALS team will be able to facilitate this meeting, please contact them on 0800 052 5790.

Linda Rose, Head of Nursing
