"Hand hygiene and ANTT"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital / Endocrinology

Attended an appointment today with my daughter in the Metabolic clinic all the staff we encountered were excellent, communication was spot on. My only concern was when she had bloods taken the Health Care Assistant did not wash her hands, wear gloves or most importantly clean the skin before taking blood. Cleaning the skin is key to avoiding transferring infections and should be standard practice without exception. It was on the top of my tongue to point this out at the time but my daughter would have been horrified if I had so decided not to. But I feel it is important to be addressed.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We're glad to hear that our team provided you and your daughter with excellent communication. Hand hygiene is a key priority and there are hand sanitising stations dotted around our sites, which our HCA may have used prior to this. All feedback is important to us, so thank you for letting us know, we will pass this on to the team.
