"Absolutely amazing!"

I am 89 years old and yesterday I had a new aortic valve implanted into my heart and I’m going home tomorrow, absolutely amazing! Over the last few months I have received outstanding care and kindness from staff in numerous departments. I have been overwhelmed by the knowledge, skills and kindness of paramedics, doctors, radiographers and nurses in diagnosing and dealing with my heart issues. Every step of the way staff have explained everything very carefully to me and helped me to make the right choices of treatment for me to remain well, live independently and continue to live life to the full. Brilliant organisation of appointments, phone calls offering advice to me at home have all been really helpful. Staff work so hard under enormous pressure to deliver care to emergency admissions and an ever increasing number of patients. I feel so privileged to have received such wonderful care within this NHS hospital. Thank you to everyone for saving my life.
