Collapsed and taken into Pilgrim hospital. Passed through 4 Wards each seemingly doing the same tests and when I explained that I already had that done they couldn’t find the results and did them all again. After 9 days they discharged me and said, it’s not dangerous as long as you don’t hit anything on the way down and they would send me an appointment to have a loop recorder fitted. The following week I collapsed whilst at my sons and was taken into Glenfield hospital and fitted with a recorder the same day. Within a few days they contacted me and asked me to come straight back as my condition was dangerous as my heart was stopping. Fitted with a pacemaker within a couple of days.
Back home felt bad one day and taken back into Pilgrim Boston. Left in a Chair for 8 hours in A&E. Finally put into a bed and told the pacemaker probably had a problem. No cardiologist available no machine available to read pacemaker and was not even put on a heart monitor. Was told they hope to get someone tomorrow but weren’t sure. I thought If it was the pacemaker at fault I would probably be dead before they found out. After 24 hours in Pilgrim my son removed me from Pilgrim, drove me to Glenfield in Leicester who had downloaded in information from the pacemaker within 15 minutes of me arriving.
