"Eye Casualty visit"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Ophthalmology

I am leaving a review for my friend who asked me to send his review. I visited the eye casualty department on 15/07/19, I came because I had a problem with a painful eye which later I was told was a problem with my cornea. When I came into the department It was very busy and the department was almost full, just a few seats spare. I have attended eye casualty in the past and from the start I have seen a significant improvement from my visit 13 months ago. I was booked in quickly by the member if staff on the desk who was polite and let me know that there is a long wait due to the amount of people in the clinic but will be seen very shortly by the nurse. I was seen within 20 mins for my chat with the nurse who was very polite and did some eye testing. I did have a wait if an hour and 20 mins but was seen by a lovely lady in the eye casualty department and then by a further gentleman once she had diagnosed me. I noticed there were plenty of staff all talking to each other about getting a patients seen who had Been waiting, there seemed to be 2 members of the manager team working with the nurses and doctors to make sure people were being seen in order. This seemed to be working very well as several people waiting came in and out quickly with them asking lots of questions and giving direction on what to do next. Although the team were taking instruction this seemed to be fine in a calm and done in a professional manner. Once I was seen by the doctor he gave me instructions I recurved a further appointment to follow me up which I was given at the desk on my exit and I was sorted. Please can I say what a great service. A much improved service from the last chaotic visit 13 months ago. Please can I say well done to the team, nobody enjoys having to visit these places but thank you for making it the best it can be.
