I recently underwent emergency (blue light) admission to Hereford DGH and subsequent emergency (Blue light) transfer to Cheltenham where I underwent emergency surgery late on Bank Holiday Sunday to insert a J stent into the left kidney.
I was advised that this would be followed by an operation after six weeks at Hereford for the removal of a 7mm proximal left ureteric stone.
The response from Hereford has been less than satisfactory, the operation has not been carried out in the prescribed time scale and to date a date has only been "pencilled in" at Hereford.
Despite approaches to Hereford and Cheltenham, no further progress has been made in confirming a date for the next stage operation.
On the other hand, Portcullis has actively pursued Hereford and instituted a regime of blood monitoring to ensure that my long term health is not being affected by this delay.
Furthermore GP enquiries have revealed that Hereford Hospital does not offer an appropriate out of hours cover for renal or urology incidents.
The personal service offered by Portcullis is outstanding.
