"Very long waiting times"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Gynaecology

I am endlessly frustrated with the waiting times and care delivered at the gynaecology unit. Unfortunately I have been a patient for just under a year now. From the point of diagnosis/op I was told I would require 3 monthly appointments/scans but I am always chasing for these to be booked and there is always a long delay from receiving a scan to results (due to a lack of appointments). It feels like a never ending cycle of frustration and pain.

The concerning thing about treatment here, is that its extremely under resourced and staffed and without being very assertive and advocating for yourself you would get nowhere. The emotional impact of awaiting for results has never been considered by this service.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are experiencing some delays in appointments and getting back results as I understand how distressing this must be for you. Please would you get in touch with us to let us look into what is happening as this is not the standard of care that we expect for our patients at the Gynaecology Unit.

Please call us at the Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on 0800 917 6039 or e-mail us at PHT.PALS@porthosp.nhs.uk

I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully sorting things out very quickly.

Kindest regards

Marion
