"First class care and service"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

My wife attended the A & E at University Hairmyres Hospital and has full praise for the service she received.

Her name etc was taken on arrival and within 20 minutes the initial visit taking all her details and her blood pressure was over.

Accepted she had to wait more than another 2 hours to be called to the treatment room but once there the service from Dr. Kilpatrick and her nurse made the wait worthwhile.

The doctor, in a very relaxed but competent way, dealt my wife while both taking further details and administering treatment. At all times the patient had full confidence in the doctor and her diagnoses which enabled the patient to start feeling better and once all tests and various medications were administered my wife spoke highly of both the doctor and nurse.

Having spent 2 hours in the treatment room my wife realised why her time in the waiting room had been longer than she had expected.

The care and service from the administration and medical staff could not have been improved on as it was first class and the waiting time could only be improved by additional resources i.e. more treatment rooms and medical staff.

I was with my wife during her entire visit and we were both very pleased with the NHS on this occasion as being allowed to stay with her was to her advantage.

Dear Kilberry

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your lovely feedback with us. We really appreciate when patients take the time to compliment and recognise the hard work and effort our staff make to help ensure that patients have the best experience possible when they are in the unfortunate situation of having to use hospital services.

I'm glad to hear that you found your experience as positive and as helpful as it could be, especially in what was most likely a very worrying time for yourself and your wife. I hope your wife is feeling better and please extend all our good wishes to her.

I have passed on your feedback to the Emergency department and I'm sure they will be very appreciative of seeing it, it really does make all their hard work worthwhile.

Best wishes

Hazel
