"Trying to get the other half of a repeat prescription"

About: Lower Clapton Group Practice

(as a relative),

My dear relative who:

Asked for repeat prescription over 2 weeks ago, only part of it was issued and he’s still waiting for the rest. Nearly two weeks later he phoned the surgery & instead of receiving an apology and issuing the remaining medication, he was informed to telephone the surgery the next morning at 8am (he can never get up and be ready for 8am never) to have it sorted but, he refused to comply.

Simply put, I think patients should not have to repeatedly ask for a repeat prescription, just because the initial one was lost when delivered in person.

It’s not finished yet far from it, it’s just the beginning because not issuing required medication can be construed as refusal.

So sorry to hear your relative is having a difficult time. There are some medications we need to monitor carefully and without knowing the details of what the medications are it is difficult for me to comment as to why there may have been a delay. If you email lower.claptongp@nhs.net with the details or ask to speak to our Operations Manager Evelyn Kraus then we will be able to look into what happened. He shouldn't have been told to get back to the reception at 08:00 and I will feed this back to our reception team.

I am also very sorry that your relative has had this experience. We have already made a change by employing an administrative member of the team to specifically deal with repeat prescriptions and nothing else. They started working at the Practice this week. We hope this will help streamline the process of requesting and processing repeat prescriptions and leaving less room for errors.

Once again,we thank you for your comment,
