I had to get a CT scan. The nurses were required to insert a cannula for dye. I fainted (not uncommon for me) and the nurses were very kind. However they were unable to get the cannula in my arm and one nurse suggest that there was a 'Good one' on the back of my wrist (near the bone at the base of my thumb).
This was unbelievably painful, which the nurse had said it would be, unfortunately I believed that was only the case for the cannula insertion. However when the cannula was flushed I felt like my arm had been torn in two. The radiographer said the cannula on the wrist was not ideal and asked who had inserted it. Just wanted to give warning to future patients and highlight to staff that cannulas inserted into the boney part of the wrist is sore and if possible avoid at all costs.
