One of my service users was brought by ambulance to this department, and was left lying on a trolley in a freezing draughty corridor for over 4hours. I had to wait with her, as the person is very vulnerable with serious mental and physical health issues. I wasn't even offered a seat and was left standing for all this time. She also has a diagnosis which meant this was very upsetting and confusing for her.
I know this is a very busy dept and things have to be prioritised, but you would think in this day and age there would be some better system in place.
I ended up having to help another patient who was freezing, and had been left with her underwear still at her ankles, from an earlier request to use the bed pan. The woman couldn't move due to back problem.
