"Broke my leg recently."

About: Ayrshire & Arran Community Services / Physiotherapy Ayrshire Central Hospital / Physiotherapy Crosshouse Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service

(as the patient),

I fell down my daughter’s front door steps and fractured my tibia close to my kneecap. I was taken to the closest A & E and after treatment there was transferred to Crosshouse Hospital.  I had the best of treatment and was discharged home by ambulance  after two days in hospital,  The ambulance patient transport service thereafter took me from my home to attent clinics at hospital several times and the crews were very professional and helpful, and finally the physiotherapists who came to my home to get me up and about with their words of encouragement and helpful manner me want to do everything possible to make them feel their help was so much appreciated. Am now about to begin physiotherapy at Ayrshire Central Hospital gym and cannot thank the National Health Service enough.

Dear 843653,

Thankyou very much for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. I am very sorry to read about your accident. That sounds really painful and quite inconvenient I imagine. I do hope that you are fully recovered or at least on the road to it and your rehabilitation is going well.

I am very pleased to read about the lovely words you have to say about our Patient Transport staff. They have a hard job and its amazing what being nice can do. If you would like me to see if I can trace the crews and pass on your kind words, you can email me at alan.martin2@nhs.net.

I hope you have a lovely weekend and all the best.

Kind Regards

Alan

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear 843653,

Well Alan said it all so beautifully and I would like to echo his thoughts. We don't always appreciate how difficult it can be when we don't have use of all the body parts we are used to. Some of the simplest of task can then become either impossible or monumental tasks.

I will pass your lovely post to the trauma/ orthopaedic team and the community physios. I am sure it will make their day.

It sounds as if you are on the road to recovery and I wish you well with that.

Best wishes,

Eunice
