Visit to Northampton General Hospital Eye Dept. Staff very professional and helpful. Waiting room too warm and too noisy. I experience the hospital as unclean. I have made several visits during the past 7 months including as an in-patient. I saw unclean conditions on every visit.

I get annoyed when medical staff do not wear gloves, face-mask and sometimes not a white coat, during examinations. Additionally, some staff walk around public areas of the hospital wearing theatre (blue) clothing. This cannot be sterile practice.

Thank you for sharing your comments about services in our Eye Department. I'm glad you found the staff professional and attentive.

We try to give patients the highest standards of comfort and cleanliness so we will be passing on your comments to the Eye Department staff.

I understand your feelings about white coats and masks but this is more difficult, as some people dislike the formality and distance that a face mask might give. However I take your point about wearing surgical gowns outside theatre and will discuss this with Outpatient staff.
