My father was for aproximatively 2 weeks at Poole Hospital. At the Stroke Department, while he was being nil through mouth, he was not given fluids for 3 straight days. I have some medical knowledge myself and I know that hydration is very important, especially after a stroke. Moving forward to Rehabitation team, that was actually awful. A nurse took my father's phone while he was talking to me telling him to stop (it was midday). When I arrived there, there were patients screaming for nurses constantly and another nurse told me "it's ok, that is how they do". I find it horrifying that some of our family members could be treated so cold by people that are meant to help them while we think they are in safe hands.I am sure there are many caring people there but my personal experience was awful and anxiety inducing. The first hour he was brought by ambulance, I was told by a Neurologist at the Emergency Department that they are not sure if he is "worth resuscitating" even though he had signed a paper where he claimed that he wants to be resuscitated in case his heart stops. I am anxious to send anyone there again, please do something about it.
