"The worst GPS surgery I have had."

About: Bethesda Medical Centre

I’ve been a patient of Bethesda for a year now and am sad and frustrated to say it is the worst surgery I have been a patient at (and I’ve lived in Nottingham, Leeds, Manchester and London previously).

Appointments are impossible to book, instead you have to arrive at the surgery at 8am on the day you want to be seen and wait and hope one of the receptionists will book you in (along with the other 30 people that are queueing with you). When you have a long-standing medical issue (as I do) and a busy job, being unable to prebook appointments is not ideal, and results in my medication (which I take a lot of) going unchecked, or me struggling in pain and unable to get to see anyone because all the appointments have been taken by the time I get through on the phone. The occasions I’ve been early in the physical queue at the surgery have resulted in me needing to wait for an appointment later that day, which when you work isn’t possible to do. Continuity of care is also impossible to achieve. The best care for someone with long standing medical issues such as myself comes from seeing the same doctor, but Bethesda neither seem to understand this or care about it. This is the largest surgery I’ve ever been a patient of (10+ doctors) and yet it seems completely outdated in its approach to patient care. If I could switch practice I would, but here apparently your surgery is based purely on your postcode.
