"Surgery & Aftercare"

About: Victoria Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Had major surgery at Victoria hospital Kirkcaldy recently to remove massive ovarian cyst, full hysterectomy & appendectomy.   From first appointment with Dr Singh, everything moved very quickly. From arrival on the day I was kept fully aware of everything that was going to happen etc & all theatre staff couldn’t not have done more to make me feel comfortable & secure. Was in surgical HDU for 3 days following surgery & could not have been looked after better.   This is such a good set up & is most certainly engineered to make recovery as good as it can possibly be.   My nurse, Kelly & her trainee Emma were absolutely wonderful. Emma especially took such good care of me at all times & I felt went above & beyond to ensure my care felt “special “. She will be such an asset to any department when she qualifies in a few weeks.   Again, when transferred to the gynaecology ward, the staff were all fantastic. When something is seriously wrong, this is where the NHS really comes into its own.

Dear Massive Cyst

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experiences within HDU and Ward 9.

I will pass on your comments to the staff mentioned within your statement.

This gives us a massive morale boast when patients appreciate the care we give, in the career we love.

Thanks again for your lovely words.

Best Wishes and Kind Regards

Sandra Fawns
