"Delay in ambulance"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

A year and a half ago my wife took Ill

We called the doctor who came out no problem ......she said my wife needed to go to hospital and informed us the ambulance will be here within an hour.

An hour had passed and my wife was now in serious distress ....so I called 999....was told no record of an ambulance to our address.

Another hour had passed and now my wife was screaming the house down ......still no ambulance.

Was told our priority was stepped up .....

So after 3 hours ambulance arrived...wife was now on her way to hospital in Dundee.

When I got to hospital I was put in side room and then told my wife's heart had failed on way to the hospital.

Next day support machines were turned off.

Was told a few weeks later that they were looking into why it took 3 hours for ambulance to arrive.

Have heard nothing since.

Dear Shedboy 1983,

I was very sorry to read this post. It must have taken you so long to feel able and ready to share your feedback. I am very sorry for your loss.

I would like to ask you to contact me personally so that I am able, if you wish, to look at what happened to the call that was made for your wife and to tell you what happened, and also to ensure that we learn as much as we can from the call that was made for her and how it was managed.

My number is 0141 810 6101 and thank you again for sharing your story.

Pat
