My husband attended urgent care in June and was admitted to ward 18. After review we were allowed home and returned the next day for a ct scan. We were told he had advanced lung cancer which had spread to his liver. Sadly he died only 12 days later.
During that period, he spent time on wards 7 and 10. In every ward the care could not have been better and all staff without exception were so wonderful. We were looked after as a family. He wanted to die at home and on discharge we were looked after by district nurses from whitegate drive and the hospice at home team. They too went above and beyond to allow my husband to have a dignified death in his own bed as he wanted.
As a member of Trust staff, it made me proud to be a nurse and to work in this organisation.
