"No improvement after Hernia Operation"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

Went in for an operation to fix a groin hernia.   Four months down the line don`t really notice any improvement in symptoms.   Wonder what the point of it all was.   Initially told I would be back to work in around three weeks but it took seven weeks before I noticed any real improvement at all and now four months on it feels similar to before having the operation.   Not impressed in general with the standard of service or care given to be honest.   Awaiting MRI scan to determine what is going on.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear James M55,

Oh, this must be disappointing and distressing for you. you clearly want answers and the MRI will hopefully proved the answer for your consultant and you. I don't know if you can take a 'short notice' appointment, but if you can, please make sure you have let the MRI team know this.

I do hope you get your answers and anything further that is needed as soon as possible.

Best wishes,

Eunice

Update posted by James M55 (the patient)

Update: Over a year now since the operation. Still not any better, in fact worse due to complications. It feels like the complaints system unwilling to help or deal with the issues.
