"Neck MRI and further appointments"

About: New Victoria Hospital / X-rays and scans Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as the patient),

In February had a MRI at New Victoria Hospital Glasgow, which was arranged by Neurology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Glasgow (neuropathy) else.

Two months later I had an appointment for the results, I have degenerative changes in neck with quite large disc at C4/C5 level with spinal compression. I was told that I needed operation asap, and that if I moved the wrong way I could paralyse myself...all very scary.

I also have lumbar spine pain with numbness on front of thigh which wasn't mri'd as I was going on holiday it was agreed that I should come back on in June for my pre-assessment. Myself and my partner arrived and we where seen by another doctor, who asked why I didn't want the operation - i explained that we where going on holiday. I was asked some questions regarding my neck, I answered that as I didn't know anything about my neck till the results and it wasn't hurting me. Long story short this other doctor decided to get my lumbar spine MRI'd, they said they would try and get me in that day and away he went.......and never came back, we waited for an HOUR and they still never appeared back....I had gone to see a nurse and was told they know im waiting...a nurse came in and said they couldn't get me in and I was to go...

I have followed this up with the doctor's secretary who has been very very helpful and said they would try to get a hold of the doctor, I got a call from the secretary in July asking if I could go the next day for MRI - to short notice so i couldnt. The secretary said they would email to see if there was another app - as far as I know the secretary hasn't heard back.......I have contacted the Mri appointment dept and they say its not on the system as yet, waiting to see wither its marked urgent or routine turns out its been marked routine which I don't think it should be considering the numbness and how much pain Im in.....I was also told that I would be referred to my doctor to get me back to rheumatology Osteoarthritis from (now neck to my feet). Cauda equina was mentioned, which in itself is frightening.
