"After care following hysterectomy"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

My life had been on hold for the past year due to issues I had been having, various things were tried but unfortunately nothing seemed to sort the problem.

Following various appointments it was then agreed that my best option was to have a hysterectomy. From the day I was admitted to Forth Valley hospital to the day I was discharged a week later due to an infection that I had caught, I cannot fault the care from anyone.

I would like to say thanks to all within ward 8 where I was initially and then ward 6, especially Suzie, Donna and Kate, cant remember the other names but all were so lovely. I would like to say a special thanks to Dr Sewnauth as from the beginning to actually having the surgery and now (still. not fully recovered) she has given me my life back. She was so caring and understanding, I cannot thank her enough. If I had any other issues I would be happy to see her again.

Dear Cool

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback about your care in ward 6 and 8. It sounds like it has been an eventful journey for you but hopefully you are now on the road to recovery.

It is great to hear that Dr Sewnauth has made such a positive impact.

I will make sure all of the team, especially Dr Sewnauth, see your posting. I know that they will be delighted to read it.

I hope you continue to recover well from your surgery and that you will soon be back to good health.

With best wishes

Gail

Thankyou Gail, well deserved.

Unfortunately just after I seen dr Sewnauth week past Friday for check up, I now have an infection in the wound and on antibiotics, also still experiencing burning pains on right side of my abdomen, I did try to get in contact with dr sewnauth but she was on annual leave, lucky her. Not sure if I should contact her as I think she may have signed me off.

Kind regards

Dear Cool

I am sorry to hear about your infection, you will be feeling miserable.

As Care Opinion is anonymous it is difficult to give specific advice, however, following discussions, I am hopeful that the information I have is correct in that you have seen your GP and Dr Sewnauths' secretary has been in contact.

I hope you start to feel better soon.

Kind regards

Gail
