After struggling with diabetes I was referred to Ayr hospital where I saw a consultant, Professor Collier, who was very nice and supportive. He said that even though I was type 2 diabetic he could see weight wasn't my overall issue which felt great as when diagnosed with type 2 you feel like everyone is judging you. Even though this had been said we discussed diet and life choices and he said he could put me in touch with a nurse who could discuss my issues, general health and diet with me.
The nurse I was put in touch with was Ruth and she was fantastic. She took time to understand me and my specific needs. She followed up with me regularly and offered me support and encouragement. She understood the challenges I faced and the care she provided was very personal to me. Thank you so much to Ruth for the care provided and the follow up support and thank you to the diabetic staff at Ayr hospital.
