"Lyndon Ground"

About: Sandwell General Hospital

Initially we visited A&E with my 1 year old little boy on 23rd June.2019. My little boy had breathing difficulties, wheezing and couldn't catch his breath. We've visited several times before only this time I knew it was more serious as we bypassed the children's section and went straight into emergencies. We were advised that my son was struggling to breathe and was working considerably hard. Anyway he was left half an hour before prescribed with a nebulizer and when I checked,

I was told it was handover and they had forgotten about him! I also reported that the area was unclean and blood on the bed area. On to a more positive note, we speedily went round to Lyndon Ground and I would just like to say that on the evening/early morning of the 23rd June, I had a lovely nurse. She really is a credit to this ward and on many occasions asked if I was ok and did I need anything. The nurse was excellent with my son and you could see she is genuinely a caring person and an outstanding nurse. Please pass in my thanks.

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your son’s care. Firstly I am sorry about your experience when visiting our emergency department. I have shared your comments with the matron so that she can ensure that this doesn’t happen again. On a positive note, I am glad to read that the care he received on Lyndon Ground was excellent and that he was treated well by the nurse. Kind regards, Toby Lewis, Chief Executive.
