"All staff were excellent"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Endoscopy Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Gastroenterology (Stomach and gut problems) Wards 8b, 8c &8d

(as a relative),

My brother- a  general avoider of all health care; was diagnosed with bowel cancer. He underwent colonoscopy and stenting, followed by laparoscopic removal of the tumour.

Without exception, each member of healthcare staff was the following:

1. kind and compassionate

2. excellent at their role- whether it be the technical aspects of his surgery, or the gently persuading him to accept analgesia.

Each member of the ward staff treated him with warmth and humour and all allowed him to be fully involved important care decisions.

Medical staff including junior medical staff were excellent.

Dear Colonsy

Thank you for your lovely feedback in regards to the care your brother received at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

It is extremely important patients feel involved in important care decisions and I'm glad your brother felt comfortable enough to ask any questions he had around the procedure.

I'll be sure to pass on your comments to the staff in the Colonoscopy Department which I'm sure they will be delighted to hear.

Kind Regards

Kevin
