I was tested positive for TB whilst having a blood test for a change of medication for my Crohn's disease, I was already under the respiratory team at Rotherham General Hospital for pulmonary fibrosis. Further investigation determined I had latent TB. I believe I had come into contact with a TB patient during my years spent working for the ambulance service. My Crohn's medication affects my immune system and therefore I was a prime target for the TB virus. The care, support and treatment I received from my respiratory consultant and especially my TB nurse Tracy was extremely good and I can't thank them enough.
