I drove an elderly relative to Gartnavel General Hospital today for an outpatient appointment. She holds a disabled parking badge. We arrived in good time and I drove round 5 separate car parks looking for a vacant disabled space,
or indeed any space.
I did not find a space and had to drop my relative at the main entrance and she had to make her own way into her appointment. My relative is 88 years of age and uses a rollator walking aid. There should be a separate car park for outpatients with an appointment. Barrier access could be used the barrier should raise if a patient scans a barcode on their letter and their appointment is within the next 30 minutes. It is stressful enough going to a hospital appointment without worrying about being late for the appointment due to to parking issues.
