"Totally unacceptable level of care."

About: Southport & Formby District General Hospital

What I liked

The doctors, when available, were informative.

What could be improved

No continuity of care, no communication, no care plan, nursing staff rude and unhelpful. No senior staff members available to discuss care with.

At 0130hrs my partner was dehydrated and hungry. After 5 hrs in the hospital he was given half a jug of water. On requesting any food ... quote "just a biscuit will do, I'm starving" ... the nurse replied "I have called the canteen, there is no food left. If your wife wants to go to tescos we will let her back on the ward" The same nurse referred to myself and all her patient as 'sweetheart' 'love' 'darling' but never by name !

Anything else?

Urine jugs left for so long they had disintegrated and leaked, had washing sink filled with dirty cups, staff laughing and joking at the nursing station all through the night making it impossible for patients to sleep.

I could go on but think it best by letter.
