When someone is discharged from Dovedale they are sent an ‘exit questionnaire’ they can complete this in their own time and send it back to the ward. Below is a summary of someone’s responses.
My privacy and dignity was respected at all times and I always felt safe in my surroundings. I found the experience of being in the MDT / Ward round very useful. I always received enough information about the ward and had meetings with my named nurse to discuss my care and felt I saw the doctor regularly enough. I was offered a copy of my care plan and was given the necessary information about my medication. I think there were enough activities on the ward that I was able to participate in and I was offered occupational therapy regularly. I knew the arrangements for my follow-up care and had confidence in the staff that worked with me.
Overall it was a good experience, it did the job. All staff were excellent and caring.
If I had to describe two things that helped me during my stay I would say it was meeting mostly nice people, staff and patients alike. Occupational Therapy sessions were helpful. When thinking about what could be improved I think you could do with more bathing and toilet facilities.
I think the staff are heroes, nursing, support and housekeeping staff do a wonderful job in sometimes stressful circumstances.
