After a few instances of very visible, thick blood in my urine and no UTI detected, I was referred by my GP practice to Urology. I received an appointment promptly for a CT scan at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline followed by a flexible cystoscopy at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy where a tumour was detected in my bladder. It looked exactly like a sea anemone! It has now been removed and I await histology. I was lucky enough to receive a cancellation so from finding the tumour to removal was just under 4 weeks. My treatment at every turn since first diagnosis has been excellent. The CT scan was quick and efficient and the cystoscopy clinic was held on a Saturday, making parking much easier and was also very well run. I was assigned a bladder cancer nurse immediately after my tumour was detected who talked me through things. I have been in contact with her twice since and she has been so helpful. My pre operative assessment was also good with a very caring nurse and the treatment on Ward 54 Urology was second to none. Think I hold the record for most catheter bags emptied in a 24 hour period (over did the drinking a bit!). Thank you for your patience! Fingers crossed for a good outcome but I am expecting to repeat the experience at least once if not a few times, from what I have so far been told. Well done, NHS Fife.
"Outstanding care & kindness"
