"My experience has been mixed"

About: HMP Lowdham Grange

(as a service user),

In the whole my experience with the health and care service has been mixed - certain services are good but other ones don't seem to listen or care enough!

I've had ones yawning and looking sleepy - don't seem to know what medication to give me, have to ask me over and over about the same thing because they don't write or read my notes, just a lack of interest. 

But then you get the ISMT team who are brilliant most of the time and listen intently to will help you with all your health & personal needs. Couldn't ask for more!!

I am going through a hard time mentally but to be honest the help isn't there for me and most of the Prison, seems to lack a lot of empathy...

The overall support from the ISMT team and psychology seem to be good. made me feel listened to.

Nothing with ISMT could be better. But Mental Health leaves a lot to be desired - some empathy, more psychiatrists who care

Thanks for this feedback. I'm pleased that you found the ISMT team and psychology services have been helpful. But I am concerned to read what you say about other services. We need to get this right. It's not clear from this posting what prison you are referring to. Perhaps the involvement team could help me here?

Thankyou for taking the time to share your views with us. I am delighted that you have had a positive experience from the Substance Misuse team particularly as there has been some very significant work put into this service to develop a drug free wing. I am disappointed that your expereince from the Mental health team has been less impressive. There is a considerable amount of work taking place to address some of the issues yor raise and there will be additional staffing, a 7 days service and a Wellbeing Centre on site to improve things for those needing help and support from the Mental Health staff. I am confident that this time next year you will be as positive in regards to the Mental Health services as you are about the substance misuse.
