"Awful experience"

About: St Mary's Hospital / Maternity care

This is honestly the worst hospital that I have ever attended. I am a consultant led patient. There is a complete lack of communication between departments; lack of care and attention to detail and a failure to observe the duty of candour from all levels of staff from administration staff right up to consultants. You will wait for up to 8 hours for appointments with a lack of communication to tell you so. Once you attend the appointment, the consultants might not bother to explain growth scans etc and leave you in the dark. Some consultants will not follow guidelines and you will have risky procedures for no benefit (such as amniocentesis). You will be told that you will receive a call at a certain time and this will not happen. You will call several hospital departments just to have to leave a voicemail and never get through. You will receive letters with incorrect dates and times on them. Try sorting all of this out with a full time job! I’ve had to be signed off work just to deal with the sheer incompetence and substandard care from the medical professionals at this hospital. If I could deliver my baby myself, I would do so. I’m still convinced that I might be able to do a better job from what I’ve experienced so far. You won’t get anywhere with PALS so I would suggest writing down the names / numbers of doctors and nurses and taking any issues to the PHSO and the relevant regulatory bodies. I have lost all faith and trust in this hospital.
