"Dialysis treatment at at Stonehaven"

About: Kincardine Community Hospital / Renal Dialysis

(as the patient),

I would like to take this opportunity to express my opinion on the new dialysis unit at the Kincardine renal unit in Stonehaven. Although being in operation for only six months it is already operating very smoothly, Diane (ward SRN) and of the staff and very friendly and (I think) due to the fact that the ward is less hectic than other dialysis wards, the nurses are less stressed and have more time available to spend on the patients. Due to the proximity of the car park to the ward it is so much easier to get there and after a session of dialysis so much easier to get back,

In the last six months a cannot remember a time when I have been kept waiting to get on to the machine, and the staff are poised ready to take you off as soon as the machine bleeps. The chairs are comfortable and each patient has control over their own individual monitor, due to there being large floor to ceiling windows the ward enjoys lots of natural light and is very airy. I cannot speak highly enough of this facility and the nurses who run and organise it, I'm sure more patients would benefit if they had this level of care available.

Regards

Dear Mesal9705

Thanks so much for your positive feedback regarding the Dialysis Unit at Stonehaven.

The staff will be delighted to read your kind comments re the care they deliver and the time they are now able to spend with individual patients.

I agreed the unit is bright and the full length windows allows so much light to stream into the unit. The layout and facilities for the patients have been well planned and agree are first class. Hopefully the weather will improve and you and your fellow patients will get the benefit of the sun through these big windows whilst having your dialysis.

I am pleased to read that you haven't had any waits in regards to getting put onto a machine and appreciate this must have such an impact given the time that patients have to spend in the unit having dialysis.

I will absolutely share your comments with Diane and the rest of the staff. Feedback such as this has such a positive impact on our staff who work hard to deliver person centred care.

With thanks and best wishes

Fiona Robertson

Dear Mesal9705,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts on the new Dialysis Unit in Stonehaven.

A large team were involved in planning the layout and build of the unit so that it would provide the best possible experience for patients and a pleasant work environment for staff.

From your feedback, it sounds like we have achieved this, with the close proximity of the car park, individually controlled monitors, comfortable chairs and the large windows giving the unit a bright and spacious feel. Hopefully, you will soon have some sunshine to enjoy while on dialysis.

Diane and her team will be delighted to receive these positive comments regarding the unit, their organisation and person-centred approach.

Thank you again for taking the time to get in touch,

With Best Wishes

Grace Johnston
