"Thanks to the amazing nurse during my visit to Wakefield Walk-in-Centre"

About: Wakefield District PCT

(as the patient),

Thing is I felt a real fool but I was so upset. I hadn't slept, I was tired and even felt a bit panicky and anxious. I couldn't hear, my ears were completely blocked. As a result I couldn't hear my insulin pump alarming and I found that a bit scary. I had booked an appointment with the nurse at the practice but couldn't be seen for 5 days. I was beside myself.

When I got to the walk-in-centre shortly after they opened I was told they didn't do ears. I was so upset but asked if I could see the nurse anyway so she could look in my ears. At least, I thought, if I know it's nothing I might feel better.

The nurse was amazing. She listened and must have been able to see how upset I was. When I explained about my pump she asked me if I could come back in an hour and she would sort out my ears.

That's what we did. She was kind, helpful and was flexible, in response to my anxiety.

I would like to thank her - she knows how anxious I was! I hope the managers of the service make sure stories like these are listened to and the staff concerned told about our feedback.

I am grateful for that nurse, on a sunny Sunday morning, who took the time to listen. The NHS is a wonderful service.
