My father attended A&E this week. He's getting on in years and has several complaints. He is no fan of hospitals. I arrived to collect him and was pleased to find him having a cup of tea and some breakfast.
I asked a passing nurse for a wheelchair, and she not only helped dad into the chair, but brought him to the car and helped him in. Believe me when I say this hasn't always been our experience of hospital visits before! Dad was also pleased to have been addressed respectfully, and not be patronised by those who mistake his Parkinsons for dementia.
The car was parked a distance away. No great issue, the sun was shining. Your nurse described the route to the front door and waited with Dad.
I was shocked to find so many cars and vans parked up, on double yellow lines, at your doors. With 4 people in the waiting room, there is no way they were accompanying casualties. In a car which is by no means large, I struggled to get near the door, and had to reverse back out onto the road. I wish the police or the council gave parking tickets. Had we been alone we could not have managed to get him into the car. Saddened by the selfishness and laziness.
We remain thankful for our NHS.
"Good care, ridiculous parking"
