"Good care but reception problem at Sexual Health clinic"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital / Sexual health service

(as the patient),

Clinical staff were great. Very welcoming and made it easy to talk about quite taboo and awkward issues. Nothing but praise for them, the health advisor in particular. Very approachable.

The reception procedures, as it's a walk-in clinic, could be improved. When I've attended I've been waiting in reception for 30 minutes before even being able to check in as the staff are unaware we're there.

The way the reception is set up is that there are two separate rooms to check in male and female patients, and reception staff can't see the general waiting area unless they walk into the clinic through the corridor we wait in. Even a simple buzzer to let staff know you're there would be a good start!
