After attending accident and emergency, I was told that I would be referred and needed a course of vitamin injections with first injection to be given before departing accident and emergency and subsequent injections at home. It was late afternoon and since the pharmacy closed at 5 30, a companion was sent to get the injections because I was still waiting for treatment. 45 minute wait at pharmacy to then be told a doctor needed to sign for them. Nobody was available so a pager was given to notify us back in a&e when ready. No alert from pager, pharmacy closing. Told to come back another day after a call at home to say all ready to collect. No call at home. I went to get the medication two days later. Pharmacy said it’s with a&E ....they said it’s with pharmacy. Eventually told they didn’t know where it was. Go to your gp.
Also, a nurse administering the injection had to be challenged by my companion ( a doctor) because she was about to inject incorrectly. He had to ask her more than once to check her notes.
"lost medication."
