"Should be ashamed of yourselves!"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital / Accident and emergency

Was admitted to Resus and nurse not even bothering to introduce herself. Was arrogant knowing better than my wife who told her there would be difficulty taking blood from my right arm rather than the left. She stated there was a cannular in left although it hadn't been used. Proceded to take blood although arm which was so busied a doctor commented on it. Caused a significant amount of pain and quite unnecessary. It was as if no one was going to tell her her job. My wife also witnessed a lady who had 'flat lined' was not curtained off for some time. Lack of digency was disgraceful. They weren't even busy and there was no shortage of staff. Although you will give the obligatory excuses, they are quiet meaningless as I have no doubt it goes on all the time. The only thing that is different is you were SEEN acting in this shambolic manner.

I am so very sorry to read your comments regarding the care and treatment received at our hospital. As a Trust, we welcome all feedback whether positive or not so we can learn for the future. I will share your experience with the Senior Management Team in ED.

We would also welcome the opportunity to investigate the issues you've highlighted. As such, I would be very grateful if you could contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Services (PALS) to provide additional details, and allow us to look into this further. PALS can be contacted via the telephone on 01782 676450 or via email to patientadvice.uhnm@nhs.net.

With best wishes
