I fell and broke my hip (I didn’t even know I had a hip before then).
I was in huge amounts of pain. I was taken to Dundee and was x-rayed and assessed. Much to my dismay I was told that my hip was broken and the best option, given my youth, (I am a mere 67 ) was a total replacement. Hence I was taken to Ward 18. I cannot tell you how amazing the people on Ward 18 are.
I could not have had a better, more attentive treatment had I been royalty. There is a definite buzz of happiness on this ward. I would also like to compliment the surgeon Mr Nicoll - who is a bit of a rock star surgeon - and his team : the operation was almost entertaining. Junior doctors around the ward were absolutely outstanding – I am not using names but the young chap who wants to eventually become a GP was a wonderfully reassuring presence and there is a young Doctor will make a wonderful surgeon before too long. The physiotherapists and occupational therapist, I will simply say, are brilliant at their jobs.Coming back to Ward 18, I have never had so many lovely smiles in such a short time period. I am not planning to come back to hospital any time soon but if I had to then I would have to choose Ward 18. Thank you Craig – you should be very proud of your team.
