"Hdu ward D56 What an amazing team."

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Respiratory medicine

My dad was admitted to the ward with Copd and emphysema late stages. The staff on the ward were amazing with my dad and family, they made what was such a difficult time more bearable. Nothing was too big or small. The nurse spoke through everything they was doing with my dad and explained his end of life care in a caring and compassionate manner. As soon as a side room was available my dad was moved into it and my family were able to spend quality time saying goodbye to him. The nurses looked after my dad throughout and respected my families need for time with my dad. They allowed us to stay with him the whole time and allowed us to use the facilities in the room. Five days of being at the hospital with my dad and the nurses were amazing. My dad received the best end of life care because of you lovely ladies and gents who work on the ward. Thank you doesn't seem good enough, when you cared for my dad so amazingly. My dad was treated with respect, care and dignity. You truly are why we are proud to have our nhs. Amazing work ward d56.

Thank you, I appreciate you taking time to share this feedback at what must be a very difficult time for you and your family. I’m pleased that you and your family felt listened to and that your needs were respected during your father’s final days.

Best wishes,

Richard Kilar,

Deputy Charge Nurse, D56.
