Visited Stroud
MIIU today (Thurs. 16th May) with my 11 year old son. We had been referred to the hospital by a nurse practitioner at the Vale hospital, Dursley, where we had visited at 4:30pm the day before.
Their x-Ray dept. was closed. My son had twisted his ankle, it was swollen and he was in pain with it. Arrived at Stroud MIIU at 11:15am & x-Ray was done within 10 minutes of arrival. Called into Triage 5 minutes later. We were told we would have to wait around an hour to be seen. We were eventually called at 2:35pm to spend all of 2 minutes for the x-Ray results, being told that there was no break or fracture and that my son was to try to walk with some use of crutches, given to us at the Vale hospital.
The waiting room, whilst we were there, was not busy. I am aware that they prioritise patients regarding the severity of their injuries, age etc. but to wait the length of time we did to be told in 2 minutes that there was no major injury was unbelievable! Surely we could have been dealt with and 'moved on' within the first hour we were waiting, particularly as my son required no treatment.
There didn't seem to be any sense of urgency from the staff about dealing with patients.
"Too long to wait!!"
