My daughter was born in January 2019 at 2: 57am and the care we received was faultless. I went into labour a week before my due date and upon arriving at the Labour ward I was greeted by Joan who was with me for the duration. This being my first baby I really didn't know what to expect and Joan was a comfort throughout, telling me what was going on and also reassuring me.
It was found that baby's Heart rate was dropping during contractions and after having my waters broken I required an assisted delivery with episiotomy and forceps. Joan was assisted by Margaret who was so kind and caring. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the doctor in attendance it was all a bit of a blur however she was very patient with me whilst I was being stitched up and helped to distract me during this time also by talking through everything that had happened during my labour advising that I had had a PPH.
My partner was very much made to feel like he was involved in the whole thing which was really nice. On ward 17 where I stayed until the Wednesday I was mainly cared for by student midwife Rachel. Rachel was so helpful to this first time mum especially when it came to feeding my daughter.
Since leaving the BGH we have been cared for by community midwife Linda who is very knowledgeable and Health Visitor Emma. Emma has been brilliant answering all of our questions and reassuring us that things are going well. I am extremely grateful for the care my daughter and I received and would like to thank Joan, Margaret, Rachel, Linda, Emma and the lovely doctor who's name I regretfully cannot remember for all of their help and care. They definitely followed the core values of the NHS and treated me with dignity and respect at all times.
