Offered surgery for mid May.
Admitted at 7:15, reviewed etc & given approx time of surgery. I met several members of the team; anaesthetist, meds’ doctor & my consultant too, all explained what would happen. Numerous checks of my name, Dob, etc
Very calm environment.
Walked to theatre at the given time & prep for spinal block began.
Very pleasant, friendly staff. Reassuring & kind.
Very good care after the op & on return to ward.
Nurses, brilliant but under a lot of pressure as short staffed. I didn’t feel that this affected the care they gave, I just felt sorry for them as they not only have to nurse but fetch & carry for patients quite a lot until they can walk!
Physio’s & o/t’s also very good. They get you started on exercises very quickly & although painful it really does help, visited at least twice a day & it made a remarkable difference to my movement.
Various visits from my consultant, ward doctor etc
Food good & perfectly adequate.
Discharged on day 3, with medication, crutches etc. I felt confident to go home.
